As riders clamber ever closer back to the hell of the rock garden, another wonderful sand, dirt and rut filled trail is elegantly placed at the bottom of Highland Valley to remind all that there is no such thing as a free lunch and life is not fair. Hopefully, riders will be able to generate enough power at this point in the ride to keep their bikes upright and moving forward. It’s not even 4-kilometers worth of sand along the Mighty Mule trail. But not to worry, there’s climbing and worse still to come… all into a nasty headwind. The Mighty Mule is the punctuating point where only the most mightily stubborn are able to transcend the misery.
