The Modest Mule is merely more muddy misery, to aimfully alliterate. If you have managed to transverse the previous hell dirt sectors, this slender, soft dirt and sand purgatory confronts you less than a mile later. Slipping and sliding your way along this nearly 4-kilometer connector to the civilized world of pavement will eventually find you relieved, but only to be met with the second longest climb of the BWR at Highland Valley. Don’t forget to hose your bike down and grab a bite or two to eat. It’s a long way up before you can find a good place to rest.
